I am writing my most boring paper ever since first year undergrad. I thought I'd left statistics behind with psychology, but no, they have to rear their ugly numeric heads in museum studies.

200 100 words more and I can scrape in the lower end of the word limit. Writing them is... not agony, exactly, but like rubbing two pieces of polystyrene foam

Ack. I remember a time when I used to hate stats (first year psych). Since then, though, I've come to realise how useful statistics are, and how important it is to know how to interpret them (not that I'm an expert or anything). What kind of stats are you looking at?

It's a very simple, short paper. All I have to do is evaluate the way two research papers in the reader use the scientific method. I've chosen one that is completely qualitative - 26 in depth interviews - and compared it with one that's survey based, uses over 800 people and seems to use purely quantitative data. My paper's going to seem pretty basic, but I think everyone's will.

I'm working on my first paper since undergrad years, and it's something I'm not really interested in, so I'm in the same spot. My last 500 words have been an exercise in resisting the urge to repeatedly bang my head against my desk.

I sympathise, in other words.
