Hi Leon! Are you grocery shopping too?

[Said cat ears perk at the familiar voice, and Leon turns to smile at his friend.]

Hi Nagisa. I was shopping, but I ... guess I got distracted.

Oh, really?

[She returns the smile and looks over to where Leon had been looking before. Oh that's different.] ..Pumpkins?

Yeah. I was thinking about taking a few. [He crouches and picks up one of the smaller pumpkins that he had been looking at.] It's going to be Halloween soon.

...Oh, that's right! I didn't even realize that it was already October... [So three months here now, huh?] Is Halloween celebrated the same way here? [Well, that's kinda subjective...] Like... With trick-or-treating and jack-o-lanterns?

It's usually been ... warped by some Malnosso experiment or another. That's why I want to do something early, before an experiment kicks it. [He looks contemplatively at the pumpkin he's holding.] I've never carved a pumpkin before.

Hopefully the experiment won't be too bad if there is one, at least. I heard there have been a lot of crazy ones... What have the Halloween ones been like?

[She looks at the pumpkin briefly, then back at Leon. So that's why he's looking at them!] Really? Carving pumpkins is a lot of fun! You can make all sorts of faces on them. [like dangos.]

They're ... not very nice. [That's putting it lightly.] I remember one year where there were giant spiders and actual vampires attacking people.

[He nods faintly, looking from the pumpkin to Nagisa.] You probably need special knives for carving, huh?

Giant s-spiders and r-real vampires?! ...R-really?! [THAT SOUNDS HORRIFYING Nagisa looks horrified.] I-I hope that doesn't happen again this year...

Yep, there are carving knives that work really well for it. If you don't have any though, kitchen knives work too, I think.

[Up until right now, I had no idea that people don't use kitchen knives. /always has]

I hope so too. But I guess you have a heads-up now just in case something happens this year... [But he does feel bad for making her worry.]

I guess I'll stop by the item shop too, then.

[Don't worry; I totally used kitchen knives until I realized there were carving kits within the last ... four years.]

Oh, sorry. Fuu-chan--Fuuko--is a friend from my world; she's living with me here. She carves little wooden starfish, which is why we needed to find a carving knife for her.
