[For Saturday and Sunday.It's been awhile since Leon's checked on his electricity crests. His argument/conversation with Gold kinda reminded him of them, so he decides the weekend is a good time to check on everything. On Saturday, he checks on the lights in the rec center and the barracks, since he can't leave early because of Brigade stuff. In

[Now there's a voice that's a relief to hear. Even if Caesar had said Leon was okay when he asked, it's good hearing the boy's voice.]

Good to see you're doing all right.

[Voice]

[There's a silence on the other end as Leon recognizes the voice. He's a little uneasy looking at the man.]

...Yeah, I'm doing okay. [a slight pause] Thanks to you.

[Voice]

I'm glad. I'm only sorry I didn't make it out of there with you.

[Voice]

That was... [He doesn't want to say it's his fault, but the thought is there, lingering in his mind.] It all happened so quickly, Asad. I'm sorry.

[Voice]

[magecaptain]

[It seems they are good company for self-pity and embarrassment.]

You have nothing to apologize for. I honestly thought you showed great skill and potential. I only blame the Malnosso for sending us out against an enemy who could so thoroughly disarm us.

[Voice]

[The compliment there boosts Leon's confidence, just a little. But he's still understandably regretful, and his mood drops again. How could he be so positive when he turned his back on the enemies behind them?] I should have done more. Especially against that Elite.

What you did do may well have saved your life. That is the most important thing in battle and I failed at even that much.

[Voice]

[...But you're supposed to fight together out there. Asad's tone, and his ability to keep calm while saying all of this, deflates Leon's willingness to argue, though. He sounds reluctant.]

I ... suppose. He managed to get your wing.

[Voice]

[magecaptain]

[Honestly, he's still a bit of a mess emotionally, but it's not something that he can show right now. He didn't want Leon to feel bad because he died. That's his own demon to face and no one else's. Both of them made mistakes, but he can very easily help Leon focus on what he did well.]

And your quick thinking then was a big help. I'll be training hard to make sure I don't repeat my mistakes. That is all both of us can do now.

[Voice]

...Training hard. [...Yeah. Yeah, that was all he could really do now, huh?] I'll be working hard too, then. There's a lot of things to improve on. [Like being more helpful in a melee situation. He doesn't sound especially confident, but it's better than a few minutes ago.] Thanks, Asad.

There's a lot I could improve upon too. I'm just glad I have the chance to learn from my mistakes.

[And honestly, it's helping him too. He's actually feeling somewhat better to remember that he has the second chance now to show he can do much better in a battle like that.]

[A chance to learn from his mistakes. At the cost of his life. That thought makes Leon uncomfortable, but he nods.] Next time, I'll do better. You'll be able to see a difference.

I'm sure I will. Both of us will come out of that alive next time. [It's not meant to be an uncomfortable thought. In their worlds the dead stay dead. Here they can have another chance. That is an incredibly valuable thing.]

[He nods again, firmly, even if he's not sure how he can improve himself in a more helpful way.] Yeah. Nothing like what happened this last time. [I won't turn my back on an ally. Not like that.]
