I'll keep you in my prayers. This job sounds really good for you. Hopefully, they'll be busy and can keep you on. :)

Thank you, all prayers gratefully appreciated. Trying not to stress about it all, but this is entirely the wrong time of year for uncertainty.

Are you speaking up about any of this at work? It sometimes helps to just tell your boss what's what.

And how long have you had this job? I thought it had gone permanent already. Was there an agreed trial period, or are you still a temp, or what?

Well, I only found out about this last thing on Friday when I handed my timesheet into the Temp agency, so I will have to bring it up on Monday. And will.

And I am still officially temping - long term. The original message was that I would "switch over" to permanent staff on December 16, to avoid big hireage fees. Those directly dealing with me were happy with this idea, but it is management, it seems, that are dithering. They are concerned it will not be busy enough over jan-feb to keep me around.

Seriously, I've been pulling 50 hour weeks for these jokers for two months now. I like to think I've earned my keep. And I help out on their printing machines when there's no driving to do, and... gah!

This is seriously the wrong time of year to pull this on me.

I dunno - did you get anything in writing? It sounds a bit dodgy.

Not that I'm against doing things under the table, the workforce could hardly function without it, but it kinda leaves you nowhere to go when somebody decides to be an arsehole. I once lost a casual job out of the blue because my boss sold the shop and didn't think to tell me until the day AFTER he handed over to the new owners.
