I just talked to my mother on the phone and it got me thinking about a few things. I'm curious to see what other people's relationship with their mother looks like. Hence, this poll.

I used to feel really down after talking to my mother. Or rather, she was doing the talking for 1h+ and when I could finally say what I wanted to say, she'd say she was in a hurry... i've just learned to let it go and live with it. Took me years to achieve.

Yeah, that's pretty much my problem. I only talk to her about once every other or every third month and then it's usually 90 minutes of very small talk. She'll ask what's new, but she tunes out and interrupts with nonsensical things about what one of the cats is doing or something that she's watching on TV ( ... )

I think I'm pretty lucky to have as close a family as I do, even out to cousins and aunts. It's the major reason I will probably never go on to get my PhD... because I'd have to take my little family away from my big family and my support system to be able to do it. And as much as I want the PhD, I don't think I can do that.
