My first week at work went fairly well. Tuesday and Wednesday were primarily training days for me. I completed paperwork and practiced the "elevations" (spa add-ons) on Wendy, our lead therapist, but didn't work on any clients. On Thursday I did 2.5 hours of massage. Friday was my busy day with 4.5 hours. Saturday was 3 hours. Not to bad my

Do you get an (acceptable) hourly rate? Is your hourly rate in any way related to the price list?
Now I know that you get tips as well.
We can discuss this in private if you'd prefer.
People don't read signs. They don't know what's the fair value of an hour massage. They tip based on what they've been charged. It's an automatism. I know I would and trust me, I wouldn't mean to be rude.

I either make minimum wage ($8.07) per scheduled hour <> I make $15 per massage hour - whichever ends up being more per two week pay period.
All tips are mine no matter what, as are any of the bonuses I receive from the "elevations". I receive $1 every time someone requests me, $3 anytime a client upgrades to a foot scrub or face treatment, and $5 every time a client upgrades to a hot stone massage or joins the membership program.
So, the least I could make for a massage hour is $15 if I receive no tips, but the most I could make is $32 PLUS a tip. With the average tip being approx $12, most massages are going to yield approx $27-$35.
In order to be paid my massage hour rate rather than the minimum wage rate I need to average 3.5 massage hours per shift (out of a possible 5 massage hours).

Nevertheless I have a good picture now. Thank you.
So what's a shift and how many shift are there per day/week (I would guess 1 shift per day based on our previous discussions but do you work every day 5/6 days a week or every other day or else?)
I'm just being (very) curious.

Because of the nature of massage work a "full-time" job is anything over 20 hours.
My general schedule is 9AM-3PM Tue-Sat. Although I've got a couple of Saturdays off here and there through November for some events I already had plans to attend. Specifically, I have off Jason's Game Day next weekend, an out-of-town wedding two weeks after that, Emilie's Birthday Party next month, and the first Sat my in-laws are coming to town in Nov.
Have I confused you yet?
