It can often be next to impossible to figure out what is setting off your skin. I found that with the hives, I was in a complete and total state of inflammation. I was hyper-sensitive to everything. So things that normally would not be a problem were suddenly contributing to the overall issues. I had to discontinue the use of fabric softener and dryer sheets because they were leaving chemicals in my clothes that my already sensitive skin was finding to be an added inflammatory agent. I am still careful with that stuff and only use dryer sheets sparingly. Even then, they have to be the non-perfumed, non-dyed variety like Bounce Free. But I shouldn't be surprised that dryer sheets and fabric softener were bothering me. After all, for me the detergent isle is the "Evil Isle" that makes me sneeze and feel like I can not breathe ( ... )

On being fed up azure7sky August 16 2005, 05:16:31 UTC
I know how hard this is. There were days when I just wanted to tear all my skin off and stood crying in the shower because cool running water seemed to help. It doesn't make sense and people don't understand it. And you feel alone. I know. I've lived it and its hard. But you have to hang in there. And remember to ask people for support when you need it.
