I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Leon, a member of the SOS Brigade. [Also known as Haruki's club.] I'm working on an important task that'd help out the village

That's why I'm just looking for volunteers. Not everyone likes doing something for nothing.

All right, so you were asking about the 'dangerous' task. It's nothing bad; I've already done testing on organics. You would be warped from one place to another.

[Voice]

(I can see Moses volunteering me for this in a heartbeat.)

What would this danger entail?

Teleportation, if you're familiar with the term. Instantaneous transportation, if you're not.

[Rena's not affected by the experiment, but she knows one is happening. Seeing and hearing other people's thoughts was... interesting, if not somewhat disconcerting.]

Leon, did you still need a volunteer?

Rena! [Volunteering for the "dangerous" stuff?]

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to have a variety of different people testing. Different races have different molecular structures, and there might be some discomfort. [Besides the whole "It's a barrel" discomfort.]

[She did respond as if the thoughts had been spoken aloud, but it was still a little strange to do so.]

Oh, yes, of course. It's part of your teleporter project, isn't it? But I'm willing to help with anything you're working on.

[He did have a good point, and it reminded her a bit of the Psynard incident, but this was different. She trusted him for all things technological, and they did do their share of teleportation back home. But she did pause for a moment.] ... It's a barrel?

It's ... well, yeah, it's in the shape of the barrel. The final construct will be more durable, but I worked with the materials I had to make something fairly quick.
