The Celts saw Samhain has the end of the year and the beginning of the new-to prepare for the winter, people would have to take stock of what they had, deciding what livestock to keep and what to slaughter-it was a fine balance as keeping livestock over the winter months took resources. You had to slaughter enough so that you would have enough food set by to survive the harsh months but keep enough alive so that you could start fresh in the spring. So this time of year signifies deciding what we no longer need and what we can't live without. Mystically, this is the time of year when the veil between worlds is thinnest-it is a wonderful time for divination, for honouring our past, our ancestors and a time when we reflect on the turning of the wheel. This is the final Samhain spread-hope you like these!
