Of course true bisexuality is not a lifestyle. The point was that Mullin wasn't bisexual. He put it on like a costume, sampling it as a "lifestyle," along with various other costumes. He didn't know where or with whom he fit, so he sampled what he perceived as how other people lived, and none of those really took.

Okay, but the point was made perfectly well without the inclusion of bisexuality, which just made it sound ignorant. It's such a well-written book on the whole that this bit really smacked me in the face.
