It's really rather amazing how quickly the human body adapts to new circumstances. Only two weeks ago, walking for half an hour across Perth was enough to leave me tired and breathless; now I think little of spending the entire day traipsing around, say, Edinburgh, which is both considerably larger and rather more hilly. Hello there. Got your message, but as luck would have it I was on my way out of London for several days in Sussex at the time, so scribbled the number down on a piece of paper to phone back at leisure... then promptly mislaid the piece of paper. And it's been frantic at work since I got back. So, call me when you're heading back this way and we'll see if we can co-ordinate diaries then.

Have fun on the other side of the channel. Dover Castle is good value if you have some time in the town that's not spent in the ferry port. There's a good day's worth of stuff to see there, if you include the tour of the wartime tunnels in the cliffs. It is, however, on a very big hill. I was rather glad to let the car do the climbing for me when we were there last Sunday.
