1) I enjoyed it overall and eventually will have to read more. I gave this one a 3/5 - it was a fine novel but I didn't feel too strongly about it in any direction. I'm hoping that as the series progresses we get to know the characters better. In particular I was interested with the Chronoguard work so I'm hoping one of the future books focuses more on her father, but we'll see :)

2) Probably Joscelin from the Kushiel books because he kicks a large amount of ass and I've imagined him to be quite good looking :D

3) TBH I haven't read The Raven so... I don't know XD It's Edgar Allen Poe though so I can't imagine it's particularly charming.

4) It reminded me of Shades of Grey, which I enjoyed a lot (gave that one a 5/5 last year) but to some degree maybe there was so much of it that I was prevented from feeling close to the characters. The majority of the book is told from Thursday Next's point of view and yet aside from her issue with Crimea I don't feel I know her particularly well.

I love the Chronoguard. <3 It's so twisty and confusing and bats, and it's just awesome. And her dad just kills me. The thing about the bananas! :D

I do agree about it being similar to Shades of Grey. I've read most of what he's written, and his style seems somewhat similar all around, at least in the sense that I feel like I would never not know I was reading Jasper Fforde book.

1) I give this a 4 or 4.5. It's one of my favorite Jasper Fforde books, and one of my favorite books all around. I love books, so the way he portrays the book world, and there being literary detectives, love it! I really like that there so many ridiculous puns and jokes woven into the story as well, and that he makes them fit really well with the rest of the book ( ... )

Yes! I thought the King Richard = Rocky Horror thing essentially was so funny XD

1) It was enjoyable and a good quality light read, nothing earth-shattering though. A bit of a let-down after Shades of Grey. Fforde's quirky imagination was enjoyable. Thursday did kind of bug me at times, I mean it's nice to have a competent female lead, but sometimes she just felt a little *too* competent in ways that didn't really make sense for her character. She was also kind of emotionally distant, like the author was always keeping us at arm's length. That may have been in keeping with the detective theme though, I seem to remember a lot of the classic old detective/PI novels were a bit detached emotionally as well. I gave it a 3 at GR.

2) Gandalf! Okay okay my first thought was Mr. Darcy, but really he's so grumpy, plus he can't do magic. Gandalf ftw.

3) Trapped in The Raven, definitely. That story was creepy as fuck.

4) Definitely chuckled out loud a couple times, Fforde has a delightfully quirky sense of humor.
