You could argue that Blue Moon Rising is part of the Hawk and Fisher series, since it is a prequel and it is certainly in the same universe.

*shrugs* True, true. I tend to think of it as a seperate single, just because I don't particularlly like tyhe Hawk and Fisher series.

Are those Christopher-Moore-no-series all in the same universe, or should the be listed on separate lines?

Fanworks, inc. is a little aggressive in applying the "not tolerated" label - in fact, they've got it on BtVS. Here are the authors from their list who do not clearly have actual bans, based on reading their longer discussions:

Referred to vaguely by David Weber, in such a way that their exact views are unclear, without further support:
Jim Baen
Roger Zelanzy

Forbids infringement "for gain":
Dave Duncan

Blind eye policy:
Katherine Kurtz

Fic allowed if certain rules are followed ( ... )

Anne McCaffrey is kind of batshit and I um

Anne McCaffrey's rules are that you can write stories in Pern, but you can't use any of the characters in her books. I can't imagine stories about OCs would be all that fun or easy to write or read for this project, so I think she's gonna stay off the list.

I'll consider the others later.

Anne McCaffrey has released all significant restrictions on fanfiction recently. She now just requires that no profit is being made and that her copyright marks are observed. Hmm.

But truthfully, there are so many other books that deserve more attention, I hardly care. :D

I'm surprised by some of the do-not-write authors... Esther Friesner and Jennifer Roberson in particular. (I've met the latter, she seemed nice...)
if you're including deLint (squeee!), you should include Newford, not just the Ottawa stuff. Not sure if Newford is in the same 'verse, but I suspect not.
And why did you put him where you did, alphabetically speaking?
And, for Hambly, you might also add in Sisters of the Raven, and its sequel (which I haven't read yet).

Oh, my god, someone be specific. I haven't actually *read* any of these, this is stuff others have suggested.

Heh, because I sometimes lost my place.

Can you give me specific titles for Newford series (I am assuming series)? and what is the sequel to Sisters of the Raven?

er... the sequel is... children of the... somethingorother. Saw it in the bookstore, but it didn't quite register.

Titles of Newford books?
Lessee.
Memory and Dream, the Ivory and the Horn, Widdershins (haven't read that one yet, it's new), The Onion Girl, Trader, Someplace to be Flying, and, well, a whole bunch of others. It would be easier if they weren't all packed.
It would also be easier if more of them were novels instead of short stories. Fer example, the book Waifs and Strays has some Newford stories, and some non-Newford stories.

Chris Bunch's Seer King trilogy--Seer King, Demon King, and Warrior King--would be awesome, if only because you want rare books and after the writing of these, the author promptly fell off the face of the planet, leaving no trace, memoirs or fanbase whatsoever. And also because this is, like, the less flowery, militaristic Fitz and Fool (they even have a prophet!). Cue dreamy sigh.

I haven't yet read it, so I don't know if it could be considered overpopular or banned or what, but have you considered including Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy? (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass) I won't write for it, but I know lots of people who would, so ( ... )

Heh, then make one or two of them pipe up, because there's little enough point in adding it to the list unless someone's actually going to want fic for it, yeah?
