If you're into traditional fantasy, Jim Hines' Goblin and Princess series are fun. I liked The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss, but I haven't read the sequels yet. (They're heavy.)
If you like urban fantasy, recent ones I've liked are Libriomancer (also Hines), Discount Armageddon (Seanan McGuire), and, unless she's really screwed up the ending, Written in Red (Anne Bishop).
I haven't read the sequels to any of these yet, so I don't know if they hold up. I've noticed Anne Bishop has a tendency to throw in "really important character who pops up out of nowhere in the last book" into most of her series, which tends to annoy me, so I'm only cautiously optimistic about the current series.)
