My first story post!

It's taken a year of procrastinating, but I've finally finished a word challenge for madmad_stories2! For those of you who don't know, it's a writing community with weekly writing challenges. For each challenge, there's a list of ten words, each of which must be used in a story. Each of the words can only be used once, and the story must be between 300 and 2000 ( Read more... )

Thanks! :D
I've been nervous about sharing my writing, so it's really great to hear that someone likes it!

Very well written (and thoroughly proof-read, which is really appreciated!!). I liked the character of Zeldan, he strikes me as thoughtful, perceptive and not very happy - which makes him interesting. It's impressive that you've managed to give such a good idea of the setting and politics in such a short story, with well-placed hints and tidbits, only I'd like to know more! Is this going to be a full-length novel?

There was only one typo-like error that I saw, which is: "Professor Lucius was furious and made him tune all the harps for a month," she grinned. The comma should be a full-stop and "she grinned" a new sentence.

Thanks so much!! ^__^
I'm really thrilled that you like it. It means a lot to me, knowing what high standards you have. It inspires me to keep working on the story and make it better. I am planning on making it into a full-length novel, and hopefully eventually into a graphic novel. Of course, I have to work a lot on my drawing before I'm at that point, or find someone to draw it for me.

Thanks for pointing out the punctuation error in the dialogue! I wasn't quite sure about it, and now I can fix it.

I'm glad you liked Zeldan. He'll always be special to me, because he was the first character to come along and demand to be written at a time when I hadn't written a story in years. I love having people to share my writing with, because hearing other people's thoughts about my characters makes them feel all the more real to me.
