So, as the more observant followers of my
Flickr photostream have intuited,
phragmites and I are expecting another baby. The nominal due date for this one is November 9, although I'm taking it with a grain of salt-Aa was nearly two weeks late, after all. No idea yet if it's a boy or girl (though we're guessing the answer is probably yes); we do intend to find out. If and when we get ideas for names, we'll likely be keeping them to ourselves until the baby's born. I'm thinking "Poindexter Aloysius" as a holding name.
We had a scare several weeks ago, and thought we'd lost the baby-that was no fun at all. Naturally it happened late Friday evening, so we spent the weekend alternating between resignation, loss, and hope, until Monday morning when P could get to the doc and the sonogram revealed one very live fetus. Right around that time she also suffered a bad week of nausea, cramps, and associated unpleasantness, but again that seems to have settled down as well. We're hoping for more or less smooth sailing from here on (by which of course I mean hunger, exhaustion, and various aches and moods-that seems to be par for the course).
So that's a nice bit of news then. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.
