Serious frustration. My computer at work has been running slow. A couple rounds of back and forth with IT led to the conclusion that a RAM upgrade was in order. So the resident gearhead comes by around 11 this morning to stick in some new RAM-which seems to have worked like a charm, by the way; things are now zipping along-and somehow all my ( Read more... )

David - is possible that booting out and booting back into your Windows system somehow set your original profile as inaccessible, and the system created a new one on the spot - I have had this happen to work computers previously, thank god not on my personal laptop yet. See if there's a david and david.01 user profile, which may be what he was doing..

No...there's a "David" account on the correct domain, and a "david" account on the domain we no longer use, but that's just as it was before.

ETA: Also, while most of my personal stuff is gone, my desktop wallpaper remains. Odd? I don't even know if that's odd or not.

Not the network account - User Profile. Not sure what operating system you're on, but within your user directory, probably in Local Settings or Application Settings you'll find the Firefox profiles. (I have to run but google for "What directory is my Firefox profile" or some such to figure that out.) Look for multiple profiles there - perhaps a new one was created. I suspect that's what @ophymirage is talking about.

It's WinXP Pro SP2, and under C:/Documents and Settings there's only one folder with my username on it, along with several Administrator type folders. That what you mean?
