Vampire Diaries and I have been starcrossed this season, which is why I haven't been posting much. The first episode premiered when I was on a honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean, and try as I might, there turned out to be no way to watch it on that torture prison of my own design boat. Internet access was charged by the minute and the television

You know, I can't remember! But now I am going to believe that no, she did not, and that the only one she has seen has been Jeremy's. Because that is the reality that I prefer.
I've seen a lot of complaints about the direction, and I'm kind of leaning that way myself.
I think I am leaning there too. In the five S4 episodes that we've gotten so far, it seems to be its own little island of mixed messages. In addition to the odd dance, I honestly couldn't tell if we were supposed to be rooting for Stefan and his quest to re-humanize Elena or if it was as relationshiply dubious as I saw it. I felt that this episode painted it a better shade of grey, which was somewhat reassuring. I really hope it blows up in everyone's faces.
The only other thing I wish had been in that scene was Damon pointing out that oh, btw, human!Elena also = blood bag!Elena, because he is usually so good at ( ... )

u r perfect 2 me
P.S. When ever I try to type "Ahahahaha" on my iPhone, auto-correct changes it to "Aha banana" and now I . . . kind of like it.
Autocorrect is a bro sometimes.
Also, ninety billion points for her snapping his neck a la Damon.
Who are we to get happy over such things.
Don't get me wrong--I really LIKE the dancing scene because lol, weirdos. But I think it missed the sexyboat by a mile, and is instead on the akwardferry. (DON'T EAT THE SNACKS. They are awkward).
lol this. I guess this proves that it really was the direction that made last episode so blah. Because apparently this dance scene was supposed to be full of UST and pushing-the-envelope in the script, BUT INSTEAD THERE WAS WEIRD BOUNCING ( ... )

I think the problem is that they were both acting too high for it to be sexy. Like, as a viewer I would never assume that they were thinking about sex. Or it was at least waaaay down the list, after glitter ponies and the meaning of life.
That said, if Damon DOES continue to keep her in the dark, I'll bitch-slap him.
ERGH, YES. I want to believe that the writers are just doing this because it's a good way to create tension, and not because they think its romantic for both men who love Elena to be on a secret mission to save her blah blah blah. But when there's a Stefan in the mix, I never know!

I also drank from a coconut with a monkey face carved into it and a glass shaped like the boat. So yes, a very wonderful time.

Also, I get that Elena is having a lot of feelings about killing someone, but can I call bullshit? She's been hanging out with vampires who kill humans every other day, and only now she's experiencing guilt?

I have no desire to see Caroline actually fall for Klaus, because nothing he's done makes me think he is anything less than a psycho (and this is from someone who gives their psychos A LOT of romantic wiggle room, obvs *cough* Damon *cough*). But I do love watching Klaus try to woo Caroline and fail, so I'm definitely more invested in seeing that play out than to see how this hybrid revolution thing goes down.
Also, I get that Elena is having a lot of feelings about killing someone, but can I call bullshit? She's been hanging out with vampires who kill humans every other day, and only now she's experiencing guilt? Yes! I think it definitely okay to call bullshit. Still, I can sort of buy that it's still a big thing for her, considering that there's an emotional difference between knowing that people you ( ... )

I'm also liking the deconstruction of Elena as the good girl. Everyone is far more entertaining when they're a little morally dubious, although Elena has been occupying a diverse shade of gray without admitting it since the show started. (I'm all for the following test: Does your boyfriend kill people? Do you like that? No: Maybe you should dump him! Yes: Maybe you're kind of evil too! Embrace it. Huzzah!) Because the vampires seem to have more of a problem with killing people than Elena has associating with people who kill all the time, which I find interesting from a moral standpoint. I'm still kind of curious why it had to take making her a vampire for her to fully begin to realize that, but hey. Vampire!Elena is shiny and new and I'm happy to watch the fall out!

Heee. But I think as far as Stefan and Elena goes, there was always her (completely naive) assumption that it was never *Stefan* who was commiting these atrocities, it was *The Ripper* who was a bloodoholic, or it was the Stefan who was compelled by Klaus. One of the biggest things that pissed me off about the two of them getting back together was that it seemed to subtly endorse that it's okay to accept your boyfriend's abuse of you and others if it was committed ~under the influence of something. Which is just gross.
Apart from keeping him as a point in the triangle--which I realize is a big free pass right there--the show is much less lenient with Damon, as the reason Elena has always refused to boyfriend him is all of the horrible stuff he has done unabashedly claiming it as his own.
