I just finished Scott Sigler's Ancestor, a novel that was released via podcast and topped many of the podcasteries' hit lists for some time. The science and the conceits were quite interesting. The characterization was clumsy; I liked the security guard/romance novel author, but how am I supposed to take the Special Forces villain seriously if he's ( Read more... )

And this is why I love the internet.

Just to clarify: I have nothing against Canada, and Heinlein wrote some good stuff. But when I say early Heinlein, I mean the concept-heavy sci-fi around the time of Have Space Suit, Will Travel. I just don't like that block of Heinlein as much as I do Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Those are still a little heavy on concept and a little light on character, but they get by.

Then good news! You can get it in pdf form. Or, for only $20 payable directly to me, I will hope that the contents of the book osmose into your brain and let my desires attract Ancestor into your head.
