Fred had fallen asleep in Giles' arms, contented and happy. When she had been in Pylea, she had wanted nothing more than something like this - just someone she trusted to hold her while they slept, to make her feel safe. After returning home, she wasn't sure she would ever find something like that. Her relationship with Charles had turned out to be a mistake, unable to withstand what they went through. But with Rupert, she could tell this would be different. He understood.
She slept well for the first time in a long time. Even after she had gone home to Texas, she had woken up several times a night, expecting something to be happening or sneaking up on her. Today, though, she fell asleep and stayed asleep until she heard Giles calling her name.
Opening her eyes, she pushed herself up into a sitting position on the bed, smiling at him. "Hey." She hadn't even felt him get up earlier. Her eyes focused on the tray sitting on the dresser, and her smile widened as she suddenly realized that her stomach was rumbling. "That smells really good."
However, there was something she wanted to do first, so she motioned for him to come lean over her. "Kiss, then food."
