After the day of travelling they had had, Fred found herself actually falling asleep fairly quickly despite the excitement of beginning a new job in the morning. Being held in Rupert's arms relaxed her so much and made her feel so comfortable that any worries she might have had didn't seem important. He trusted her to run the Council lab, and she would do her best.
Morning came quickly, the sun peeking in through the curtains of the bedroom just as an alarm went off. Fred cracked open her eye and looked over at the clock on Rupert's side of the bed, groaning a bit at the time. She was so used to getting up later due to the fact that most of the work she and the others had done at the Hyperion had been on a later schedule because of Angel's "sunlight allergy". She was going to have to get used to becoming an early bird again.
"Morning," she murmured to Rupert, burying her head against his chest for a moment and blinking while she tried to wake herself up. Finally, she raised her head and pressed a kiss to his lips. Getting up this early was actually going to be worth it since she was going to be getting to wake up each morning with him, she realized. "I had forgotten that this time actually existed except after staying up the entire night."
