here "What did you do?"
Giles spun around and saw Angel standing in the doorway. He looked from the vampire to the dead man on the floor. "I did what I had to," he quietly said before he sat the knife down on the table. "No one else was going to do it."
"What happened to 'We don't kill humans'?" Angel asked.
Giles felt his anger boil over when Angel used his own words against him. He wanted nothing more than to call another weapon over and kill the vampire, but, he couldn't. "He tried to kill my wife and unborn daughter. Of course, that's something you wouldn't understand...not being a father yourself," he said as he started for the door.
"You'd be surprised," Angel merely before stepping out of the way.
Giles gave him a strange look and then moved out of the room and to the nearest bathroom. He was still feeling some of the leftover energy from the small spell he'd cast so he took a couple of deep breaths, and splashed his face with cold water. He couldn't let Fred see him like this.
When he finally made his way back to medical, he slipped into the room where Andrew was. Fred and Spike were sitting on either side of the bed. "How are you doing, Andrew?" He asked as he approached the bed.
The younger man looked deathly pale but he still managed a smile. "I feel like my insides are cooking...but besides that, I'm good," Andrew whispered.
"Thank you for saving Fred's, and the baby's life," Giles said as he took Andrew's hand and squeezed it. He could feel his throat tightening up and he took a deep breath.
"Thank you for letting me get on the bus and not kicking me off and letting me work for you, Mister Giles."
Giles smiled at that. "It was my pleasure," he said before released Andrew's hand. He moved over to where Fred was sitting and sat down beside her. He then pulled her into his arms and held her tight. It was going to be a long night.
