Alison Bechdel's Fun Home. It's an autobiographical graphic novel.

Jeanette Winterson may be an author you'd like to check out - she writes fiction, but she also has some autobiographical titles (Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?), as well. I can't really rec a particular book, since I haven't gotten around to reading any of her stuff yet, but Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit is usually mentioned when people are looking for/compiling glbt-related titles. Also she's from the UK (I'm not sure if you're looking for variety in your Western viewpoints or not).

You'd probably get a better cross-section of recs if you asked this question in bookish, since it's a bit more active than bookshare, but just looking at lists like for the Lambda Literary Awards might turn up some more possibilities.

Oranges is a great book, with an interesting example of a Christian cult in the family too

While I have never read Dan Savage's books, based on his advice columns I expect they'd be entertaining.

Rainbow Boys by Alex Sanchez and Annie on my Mind by Nancy Garden are both Young Adult Novels. Each features a same sex couple - one gay, one lesbian. Despite the fact that each book was written for teens, the books are enlightening in their up-close and personal narrative styles.
