Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson.

Kage Baker's company books. They start out with In the Garden of Iden. They are really fun. They're about time traveling immortal people and the first few are set in various parts of history.

Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Great story and fun characters in a fantasy setting, but not ground breaking. Lots of pages but a fast read!
