With our reservations about to be made at three different State Parks for the corresponding (short! - one or two nights only!) camping trips, and both social workers duly informed of our plans, visits with the biomoms rescheduled etc, we proceed with week 2 of my *Ten*Weeks*Of*Freedom*(No Work, No Classes, Not Even Hosting Any Exchange Students! Tough choices. And I hope that K will also, in finding local friends, gain a lot more afterschool activities and opportunities to hang at out at neighbor's houses.

That's just it...as much as I want those opportunities for her, I'm simultaneously somewhat fearful of them...in spite of truly believing I have GOOD REASON to be, I've turned out to be a slightly more protective parent than I'd predicted...but I can't shelter her forever, and part of me does think that I'd rather give her a chance early (and then backtrack if necessary --if something went dramatically wrong) and hope that we can gradually successful self-sufficient, responsible experiences for her...so if the morning thing works out with the neighbor, all other things being equal, I'm leaning towards going 'local'...

Yeah. She's a unique case -- but of course, they all are. And it might be good for her to develop a sense of responsibility by being granted that degree of independence. I know it's easy for most of us adults to forget how capable we could be at such a young age.
