a dilemma

I'm sitting here agonizing over whether to go drop off my kids with a friend and go last-minute crazy-traffic-braving and crowded-store-braving with the sole purpose of over-spending on **stuff** for them to have for Christmas...or staying home with them and playing a game and eating dinner together and maybe watching a movie before tucking them

It's not easy -- you're no Grinch, but I understand you don't want to be thought of that way, either (of course, all kids probably tend to think that of their parents at some point.) You go them stuff, and times are tight, I recommend not worrying about it. (I'd worry, but I know what you'd say to me, so...)
