Accutane-ted Love

I've been with my current dermatologist since August.  I don't think he's great, but we eventually found a therapy that worked for me.  (Loathe the office, by the way.  I've never had an appointment where I sat in the waiting room for less than an hour.)

So, a month back, I go in for my appointment and my normal doc isn't there.  Instead, I am ( Read more... )

Wow, they've really changed the way they prescribe Accutane, haven't they? Sounds very, very scary. At 19 (10 years ago), I was put on Accutane and all they told me was, "DON'T GET PREGNANT!" I didn't have to get birth control letters or anything; they probably took one look at my pizza face and figured that was good enough birth control (and it was). I thought the flipper baby illustration was so funny I cut it out and put it up in my dorm room and told everybody it was my baby. That is just the kind of sick fuck I am.

I'm glad the other drugs have been working for you, but for what it's worth, I experienced very few side effects (nosebleeds and dry lips mostly) while I was on Accutane, and I have had clear skin since.

Whether or not Accutane gave me mental problems is, of course, anyone's guess. :)

You love derby... hence NO MENTAL PROBLEMS. :D

When I started going there in August, they wanted to put me on Accutane and I asked to try something less "controlled" first. I was really severely broken out and we tried an antibiotic. After 4 months, that one wasn't getting me anywhere. So we switched to another. Within a week, the change was MIRACULOUS. I would personally put myself at 80% improved.

I am so glad I stuck to my guns on this one because that book SCARED me.

If I were ever that severe again, I'd consider it, MAYBE. But my family has major cholesterol and diabetic issues, so I'd still have to weigh it.

Not to mention the fact that I'm about 0% fond of having blood taken.

Igh.
