My rating of the book, F- [worst] to A [best].: A
Short description/summary of the book: (taken from back)
A wealthy Pasadena widow with a mean streak, a missing daughter-in-law with a past, and a gold coin worth a small fortune- the elements don't quite add up until Marlowe discovers evidence of murder, rape, blackmail, and the worst kind of hman exploitation.
My Thoughts: Chandler's stories are always fantastic. This one has a bit simpler plot, but still has all the interesting characters and metaphors and symbolism that the others have. Marlowe is at his heroic best in this book and it endeared me to him even further.
