This looked so much fun, Beeps! I'm really, really, amazed at how much fun it is, like seriously. What rules are you using? I found a set of "easy BACC" and the originals (but couldn't find them in full) and wondered if I could maybe do this thing myself! :D
I'm using Build-a-City's ruleset found here on LJ (look to the left column under the community's avatar for all the rules). Starting out, there's a lot to remember with what unlocks what... so I keep a notebook with key rules and notes for each round just to keep the challenge on track.
You should definitely give it a go! I think the key is to make sure you have a set of founders that are interesting enough for you not to get bored with right away. The challenge is a BLAST.
I'm jealous of your playing skills, gold badges and skills maxed in one week! But I guess there isn't much else to do in the city yet.
"Gene thinks about being an over-achiever ALL THE TIME." It's nice how this fits his character. His teen years were so hard, he really should be proud, poor thing.
I mentioned previously that I decided to play the first round for two Sim-weeks with aging off and all subsequent rounds for 5 Sim-days with aging on. So skilling levels are a little elevated this first round!
I had the most fun with Gene's backstory, so it's been equally as fun to try and incorporate it into his life in Plumb Valley.
Oh, yes, I forgot your first round was two weeks. Now I don't feel so bad. :P It's a great idea, really, giving them a few more days to enjoy. I should do something like that, since my sims always live super boring lives: babies! skilling! and death.
Yes, especially in a challenge where they have to start from scratch (and no cheating). My Sims' lives can get on the boring side as well, so this challenge is forcing me to try new things with my Sims!
It's nice to learn more about Maxine, after glimpsing her in Gene's update! I'm glad Gene got a little screen time this round, too. But I dunno about Tony Troii. Can an outgoing mechanical genius really find love with a shy nature-lover? ;)
I chuckled at the skilling glitch: that's a lot of jumprope! :D
