Closed: Ginny (and maybe George and Ron): Family Date!

Nov 30, 2013 18:16

Fred grabbed his coat and headed towards the door, stepping out into the cloud filled sky. It was a blustery November morning and he had a date with his sister. So rare were the weekend days they were both free that he'd decided they'd ought to do something rather special.

He'd sent his owl ahead, words scribbled, Change of plans, Gin, meet me at ( Read more... )

Ginny was excited. It was one of her rare off days from training with the Hollyhead Harpies and she was going to spend it with her brother Fred. They hadn't gotten to spend any good quality time together in a while and she missed her brother.

She was about to head out when Fred's owl arrived with the new meeting point. The Eye? That's a weird choice from Fred. She shrugged it off as she threw on her coat and pocked her wand. Ginny loved going on The Eye. Seeing the city from high up the way muggles do was exciting and intriguing to her. Nothing could compare to being up on a broom but then again see the way muggles put a little bit of "magic" into their lives was amazing. She was fascinated by it but not nearly to the point of crazy that her father was.

With a quick turn and an uncomfortable pop Ginny was out of her flat and in a side alley of London just a few blocks away. She hurried out into the crowd in search of Fred. It didn't take her long to spot her brother.

"Hey! Fred!" she called out with a wave as she approached.

Her little red head popped out at Fred through the crowd and he returned Ginny's wave with a massive smile on his face. "Ginny!" he greeted her, obviously pleased to bits to see her.

Fred reached out his arms and brought his sister into a big bear hug. "How are ya, kiddo?" he asked teasingly. The girl was a kid no more, she was at least his height, if not a bit taller.

Ginny grinned at Fred as he pulled her in for a giant bear hug. She returned the hug with just as much enthusiasm. "I'm doing great. The Harpies have us on a crazy schedule right now. How about you? How's the shop?" she asked as she pulled her sell out of the hug. She needed to breath after all.

His pride at his sister's success was overwhelming sometimes. For coming from such a poor, downtrodden family, the Weasley siblings had all done incredibly well for themselves.

Turning to walk down the promenade, Fred tried to summarise the past few days' events. "So the shop's been mental, I've been doing crazy overtime, and George's Slytherin lady friend is in hospital." He sighed. "So life is crazy!"

Ginny leaned up against the rail in front of the penguin exhibit. Watching them play lifted her heart and was more relaxing than she expected. Life had been hectic and stressful recently so to be able to just chill for a bit was so nice.

"Alright. Let's go find them!" She laughed as Fred started to drag her away from the penguins. Ginny wasn't as excited about the rays but seeing Fred so happy was worth leaving the peguins behind for now.

They rounded the corner to find a large open tank with a crowd of kids and parents around it. The kids where obviously trying to touch things in the tank. "I thunk we found where you can pet the rays."

Before Ginny had even finished her observation, Fred had pushed aside some small children so he was next to the tank. "Ginny! Rays!" He stares in awe as the incredible aquatics glided through the crystal water.

Tentatively, he put a hand into the tank, but withdrew it just before a ray came close. He cast a side long glance at Ginny, seeing if she'd noticed his cowardice.

Seeing Fred's excitement about the rays was truly adorable. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen him so happy. With a smile she went to join him at the tank, though unlike Fred she was much more mindful of the kids around them.

"They are neat," she said as she watched the rays glide through the water. After a few seconds she figured that she might as well join in the fun of petting them. Carefully she rolled up her sleeve to keep it out of the water and placed her hand in. The water was colder than she expected. With a slight finger wiggle she reached out and pet the ray that was swimming right by them.

"Oh! They're kinda soft, in a weird underwater kind of way."

He took courage from his sister, and dove his hand back into the tank. The cool water lapped up his wrist as he stretched out to reach a ray. As he neared, the ray rose out of the water, showing it's ninja-like face. Fred actually giggled.

While playing with the rays, stroking their silky smooth bodies, Fred brought up Angelina. "So, Angie's back in town... She's left that Canadian team she was playing with..."
