"Do you want to know more?" I loved how that movie was set up, although ridiculously terrible, the propaganda theme was pretty clever. Plus Dougie Howser as psychic?!! ". . .fear. . .HE'S AFRAID!"

agreed about the clever propaganda theme... Though, there was plenty of "what the fuck?!?!?" things about the movie (i.e. how a compound fracture could be fixed with an ice pack, coed showers, the fact that they were all from Argentina but the only thing latino about them were their names, etc.)

Though, i think me and you would've been stellar fleet pilots. You could've had Denise Richards and i would've touched the underrated Amy Smart (i think she was in the movie for like 2 minutes total)

and, man, Diz was sooooo hot

Un-american...especially since the director is Dutch? Let's be honest: it's a bad movie.

I'm not even going to touch the tamboUrine question... except to say that you are Merriam-Webster's bitch.

Don't take these as bitter comments. Read them with a smile!

the "un-american" quip was meant to be taken tongue-and-cheek... How can you make a "its a bad movie" comment right after you made a post concluding that "sometimes the audience just wants to have fun at the movies"?

I thought i spelled tambourine wrong... oh well, i also love that line in "Tambourine Man" where Dylan says something to the effect of "its good enough to make me forget about today until tomorrow"... really poignant.

If i didn't misspell, you'd probably never reply to my LJs

I stand by my comment that "sometimes the audience just wants to have fun at the movies," but to me, Starship Troopers isn't even a fun movie. That's what Jarrett doesn't understand about my distaste for the new Pirates. He thinks it's "awesome," and I really wanted it to be, but there were so many awful, disjointed moments that they hung over the rest of the movie like a "fun shield,"* exposing further moments of idiocy. Ocean's 13 is far from a "great movie," but there are enough winning scenes, bits of dialogue, and interesting cinematography to make it work and leave the audience more than amused. Ocean's 12 was the same way, as are other guilty pleasures such as Zoolander and Terminator 3Thesis: There are just some movies that, hard as you or I (but apparently not Jarrett) may try, they're simply not enjoyable ( ... )

I think it gets back to our arressted development as people... for Jarrett, his "ultimate childhood moment"* (event/thing that returns him to childhood despite the context or substance) is pirates. Regardless of the quality or technicality, he loves pirates and things about pirates.
I'm not sure what mine is, but there's something about "Starship Troopers" touches on it.

Claire Danes looked so old in T3.

You wouldn't find the query concerning "Tambourine" v. "Mr. Tambourine man" funny...

I'm glad that you're only using your editing abilities for good. I don't know what I'd do without you, buddy (i mean that in all seriousness and in no relation to your editing... just you as a person)
