Any connection between “Bumpy” Johnson and the guy from Shaft?

No, I mean the kingpin character in Shaft is also named "Bumpy." Didn't know if it was some kind of 1970s Harlem connection.

ohh... No. It was probably one of those goofy spoof things that movies do to mirror real life. Like all those cartoons featuring Bugsy Siegel (not the broad street bully) rip-offs.

Though, not sure if you were aware, in the movie "Hoodlum", starring Fishburne, the main character, Bumpy, was the same person (obviously, not actor, but real life) as in "American Gangster"

I think that the makers of the Pluto Nash's and The Wash's and The SoulPlanes don't get thrown under the bus because there's a certain segment of mainstream society that think that the inate humor services some sorta purpose for the niche group its targeted towards and that some people secretly crave the buffoonery, soft shooin' that goes on in those movies. Which is partly sad, but in some ways true...

I'm all for making December 4th a national holiday... I already sent off my letter to Cardin and Michaluski
