I'm calling a flip-flop: based on your 2006 assessment of Hip-Hop Is Dead (http://boomadagreat.livejournal.com/2006/12/31/), I wouldn't have pulled the words "incomplete and cowardly." "Inconsistent and hypocritical" I could accept, but wouldn't agree with.

Rising Down is far from a superior album, especially considering the hot streak the Roots were on (did it come out too soon?) and the Common link you sent me was mostly made of 8 second previews. After I hear it, I can put my list out.

And Weezy? Pleazy.

As I've said numerous times (though, not in that review), I thought it was "cowardly and incomplete" because he pointed out all that was wrong with hip-hop and didn't offer a lifeline to "past glory" (unlike Weezy F. Baby, gotta say the F. Baby)...
