Ooh, I've heard about a few characters' returns in the finale. It's about time!

Sylar: meh, it all does not seem consistent (he's good then he's bad, vice versa, etc.). It was so out of character for him to help Micah.

As far as I'm concerned, Sylar's done.

I fucking second this. I'm amazed by what Season 3 has done to him. Loved S1 and S2 Sylar, but I'm fed up. No more Sylar. If he didn't play an important role in the finale, I would just skip the scenes he's in.

Damn it.

They just keep... shoving him into the show, even though his stories rarely have anything to do with the rest of the narrative any more - bad guys have a short lifespan in television for a reason. I totally zone out when he's on the screen, which is a shame, because ZQ is super awesome. I wish they'd let him go do something else (I'm holding out a sliver of hope that they'll kill Sylar off so that ZQ can go make more Star Trek movies, but I doubt it somehow).

Yes, that’s the thing. It bugs me that they killed Niki (a character that, in my opinion, had so much potential) because they ‘didn’t know what to do with her anymore’ but they let Sylar live when it’s clear that he can’t take more storylines. His character has been rewritten so many times that him having an identity crisis seems like an joke to me.

I hope they kill him, too, but they won’t. Fan favourite character, fangirls would weep for months. I love ZQ as well, and it pains me to hate his character so much. It's a shame.

You know, I didn't like Niki much when she was on the show, but after they decided getting rid of the character didn't mean getting rid of the actress, I started to appreciate her a lot more. Her and DL were really two of the only truly good parents in the show.

Honestly, the show acts like fandom over Sylar. I'd say fandom makes me kind of hate him, but the show did it admirably all by itself. At this point I'm just paranoid about Nathan dying. D:

dude, I can't even watch Heroes anymore and I think a lot of that has to do with Sylar. Too much of him is the writers wanting to keep Zachary Quinto on the show.

This is me, totally NOT pimping my "No more Sylar!" comm. Which is called fucksylar for a reason. Nope. I am totally not pimping that to other people who seem to be completely sick of him, too. Not at all.

I actually liked this ep because I can't stop laughing at Norman Bates Sylar. Sweet baby Jesus, can we just move on from him already?

I am SO scared for Nathan that when Danko all casually shot him, I flinched hardcore and mentally screamed, "NOOOOOOOO!" Then I saw the darts in his back, remembered he's in the finale trailers, and that a finale just isn't a finale if Nathan isn't in mortal peril. (God, Nathan, my heart. You can't do this to me every year!)

And I was totally NOT incredibly excited when I saw you'd created that community.

Norman Bates Sylar was honestly the best I've seen him in a while - they almost, god forbid, gave him some sensible character development rather than use him as comic relief. But, you know, that boat sailed looong ago.

I actually didn't find the shooting of Nathan too bad, though I was expecting Peter to turn up and save the day rather than Danko (and I kind of dig Danko - I think at this point I just prefer any bad guy over Sylar). I am going to be so pissed if they decide to go the FYG route and keep Adrian in the show as Sylar!Nathan. It doesn't seem that likely now, but still. I might need to write a strongly worded letter should it happen. Or LJ post. You know. Whichever.

Yep. In general, I think it's a real mistake to have a villain as a regular character, since that ultimately undermines the threat they pose and either siphons sympathy from the good guys or makes the villain unbearably annoying. Sylar had some good moments, but I don't think they ever justified the sheer screen time they gave him. I'm really hoping this is his final swan song, before he essentially dies.

what if it's a double bluff with Nathan - because we think they won't do it, they surprise us by actually following through with it?

I'm assuming double bluff. It's not a real threat to Nathan until Peter is there to cry over the body.
