My informed and not-so-humble opinion is that "Tomorrow" is, to this day, the greatest song that U2 has ever done. I've given the matter a great deal of thought (oh, you know I have). The song never fails to move me. What a masterpiece. It makes a brilliant counterpart to "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own," if you consider that each one is ( Read more... )

"sometimes" was an anthem to my brother the last few months of his life as he worked on repairing the rift between himself and our father. two weeks before he passed away (12/17/07) he sent the song to dad, and my dad wanted to drive to him and hug him. i can't even listen to it right now, i had to take it off my ipod..at Bill's funeral they had a photo montage of that song.

it is absolutely beautiful, as is 'Tomorrow'.

I know I'm terribly late in answering this comment, but I wanted to acknowledge it because I think that was a beautiful tribute. I hope you'll be able to listen to the song again someday, but I know all about songs you can't listen to because of how much they mean.

I completely agree. That song makes my soul ache, it's so painful, but so good.

There's a version that's newer, credited just to Bono and Adam; it's also gorgeous. It came from some compilation whose name is on the tip of my fingers right now.
