If I had an ipod I would never do this. Almost all of my experiences with Linux (and there have been a lot of them) have been bad. Maybe if it was something with an easier to replace/repair HD, but not something like that.

yea i know what u mean. The older larger ipods do have HDs that you can replace. Not that its worth it.

I think the risk is all in losing the music you have on there, iPods come with a utility that will reformat the HDD back to normal if it messes up.
