thank you! i haven't written very much vince/howard stuff so i really appreciate your kind words about his voice. i had an idea about what i wanted to happen when the door opened but i decided to leave it up to connie, i'm looking forward to seeing what she does with it as well!

What a wonderful chapter, genuinely creepy and very Howardy too! I wondered whether his terrible secret was going to be called back. Still have no idea what it could possibly be. And the demon!Vince is wonderfully written, it has Vince's voice and yet it disturbingly isn't quite Vince... Can't wait to see what happens next!

yes! honestly, i just wanted to mess with howard on a psychological level...a lot. i thought having the demon!vince back for more worked nicely because its not just what's behind/through the door, its that the fear being amplified by a creature who looks like the person howard loves. i might have enjoyed writing it a little too much.... ;)

I'm a bit late in reading the last few chapters here, sorry! But this is wonderful, so atmospheric! I love the way Howard is desperately trying to stay calm, from the moment he talks to Vince's unconscious form as if he's just sleeping, to the end where he stands up and prepares himself to face his biggest fear.

I love that you write a Howard that feels very in-character, but is also finding his buried bravery. I'm oddly proud of him <3

This bit really stood out to me:

No warmth from the earth tones Howard favored or jolting brilliance of the glittery shades Vince was partial to. No sir, just cold, black, nothingness that stretched on and out forever, Howard guessed.
