Summary: Howard and Vince do some overdue talking, Naboo catches them in a compromising situation, and Tony Harrison is a ballbag. Word Count: 2,245 Rating: PG Warnings: Some infrequent mildly fluffly language
Aw. Good on ya, Naboo, for giving them a little time. But separating them? And worse, putting Howard with Charlie?? And then. Then! Tony sabotaging Naboo's book! "What are Board Curry Nights for.." - love it. You know Dennis always brings something bland and mild, while Saboo flavours his with those murderous little thai peppers and galangal; and Kirk, well, no one ever dares try his offerings for fear of tripping balls for a fortnight..
I'm glad that it had a ring of plausibility about it, because I had a great time writing it. And yes! I can totally imagine them bringing exactly those curries, and noone ever daring to go anywhere near Kirk's.
As a sucker for angst and reconciliation scenes, this was amazing. I loved that Howard still felt guilty and was looking for signs that Vince was still angry, not daring to believe the forgiveness that Vince was openly offering. And I think tipping Howard into the tub, and later pairing Howard with Charlie is a great narrative choice; Howard can apologize endlessly, but actually getting to know Charlie (or at least trying) is where he'll (maybe?) grow as a person!
Some of my favorite moments: --Howard admiring Vince's excuse-making abilities. --Howard readying his legendary Jazzercise moves! --Tony's terrible, terrible note, ha! --Naboo and Bollo having a bet going, Naboo being willing to lose if it means Vince & Howard stop fighting --Vince imploring Charlie to look after Howard. Such a poignant note on which to end the chapter!
Ahh, I'm so so glad that you liked it! It's the first time that I've ever written Howince, so I was so worried about it being entirely out of character for both of them. I tried to give it as much of the Boosh as I could by bringing in some of the other characters which were a real blast to write.
