[Christmas came and went, and Booster recovered from that terrible cold that the raid on the Milkman's factory generated after all the singing. So much singing. So much Skeets telling him "I told you so." When the cards came on Christmas Mike threw them in a corner, finally opening them today ( Read more... )

[Bazett is testing the limits of her regained magic circuits. It is a little irritating that they refused to return her runes, but at least she can cast reinforcement on herself now.]

[Her enhanced eyes easily catch sight of the strange sign from a ways off. She decides to get closer and investigate. After all, what better way to test her new speed than to see how quickly she can get from her house to the highway?]

[After she gets to the sign at speeds that no normal human can hope to match, she stops and gawks. It is apparently an ad for a strangely named cereal endorsed by a strangely dressed man. She wonders if this is a bit of foreshadowing for Mayfield's next trick, but dismisses the idea when she notices the man from the sign standing on the street.]

Was this your regain?

[Did a sign count as a personal item?]

Yup, looks like it was. At least they didn't pick one of the really stupid ones.

That is a personal item?

[The man has some strange tastes in mementos.]

Personal item? No. Not in the least bit. Something I was involved with to pay the bills, yeah, that's more accurate. I'd have rather gotten a personal item back over well... That embarrassment.

...So you are allowed that type of regain...

[This is an interesting development. Could she ask for the items she had been allowed to use on her missions for the Association? Could she ask for things that had been connected to her, but were not hers per se?]

Perhaps you can take advantage of this somehow. What else can you think of that you have been involved with and can ask for as a regain?

Truth be told, I have my main suit back and I don't think the time circuits on it would work so I'll just be glad that it wasn't something TERRIBLE.

I don't think I can trade in a billboard for Rip, he's a person. A person who would probably have busted out of this place by now too, so I don't think they'd do that.

[Suit? Time circuits? This man is clearly not a normal human.]

Your main suit? Is it some form of armor? What are time circuits?

[As for the subject of the regains...]

I am not speaking of just comrades. If this billboard qualifies as a regain, what of items you have once used and are not now in your possession? What of things that have vague connections to you, and yet do not belong to you?

Its sort of armor. I mean it has a force field generator in it and acts as a bullet proof suit but, back home I was a super hero. The time circuits, they are for well, time travel. Its a long and complicated story, not to mention a really boring one.

I uh, guess you could get that stuff back? I never really thought about it. I was never the thinker of any of the groups I was in. I just was the guy that they threw at the horrable stompy bit to keep it from stomping on them.

[From his claims, the man is definitely some sort of hero. Perhaps a Heroic Spirit or Counter Guardian? His "suit" would probably be his Noble Phantasm then....]

[If it was really capable of enabling him to time travel, did it mean that he was a master of the Third Magic? However, with how easily he gives away his identity, he did not seem to be a magus.]

[Or perhaps, as with much of the other things here, it would just be a case of alternate universes. Magic and magecraft probably both worked differently there.]

What exactly did you do as a "superhero?"

[If he was a Servant, then he might be reluctant to give away his identity. However, perhaps she could figure it out by asking more roundabout questions.]

Back home I was Booster Gold! Defender of Metropolis! Protector of the weak! Guardian of the oppressed! Corporate symbol of whoever would pay me enough...

Basically, I was the guy who watched the city when Superman was off doing something that protected the whole world. On an Earth where there were metahumans and super heroes everywhere.... I was one of the other guys... The ones who tried, but, nobody picked first.

[He lets out a sigh and shakes his head]

But we all do what we can to put up the good fight.

[He sounds like he is at least from modern times, so he is probably a Counter Guardian then. However, she cannot rule out that in the future, he might have picked up enough worship to be elevated to a proper Heroic Spirit.]

I suppose I should be honored to make your acquaintance then, Booster Gold.

Really? Thanks, though.. Mike is fine. Work is one thing, but we're all people here too.

I am familiar with your kind.

[Aside from the class cards she had to subdue, she had met several Heroic Spirits here.]

While I cannot say I have the same line of work, there is enough of a resemblance that I understand your responsibilities and the stress of maintaining them.

[Since he had given her his name, she might as well as give him hers.]

I am Bazett Fraga McRemitz.

Geeze, you almost sound like you're in one of those magician orders or something, but that's cool, just cause I don't understand a damn thing they do doesn't mean they aren't good people to work with... Well, unless your not, then uh.. They're still okay, but... I'm just... Going to abandon this thought right now.

Yes, I am an Enforcer of the Mage's Association. You could consider me some sort of policeman.

[It is strange to hear him say that he does not understand a thing about magic. How could he perform the Third Magic without understanding how it worked?]

That I understand. I've dealt with the time police out of zero point quite a bit.
