When you replace water in the fish tank, do you have to draw it from the tap and let it sit for 24 hours to let all the "chemicals" in the water dissipate?

It seems like my nephew said he does that...
or maybe that is for water to water house plants with... anyway, good luck on that job.

My mom does that with water for her houseplants. I'd never heard of it before until I saw her do it.

I might try distilled water, too. At this point, I've tried almost everything. Might as well give it a shot.

I'm glad you could slip right into your school routine despite the prolonged vacation time.

I wish I could have an aquarium again but it's hard finding extended vacation care for fish. Oddly, getting care for cats and dogs is a lot easier! The nitrites could just be rotting food or you may need to do an entire cleaning and water change.

I'm going to try doing a complete tank cleaning tomorrow. It is so much hassle, but I want to know if removing all the bits from the bottom will help. Maybe I'll be able to go get one of those cleaner fish, too.

It was great to be back with my kids again. I'm tired but happy.
