[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Michael Jon Carter AKA Booster Gold.
FANDOM: DC Comics.
CHRONOLOGY: Justice League: Generation Lost #24

BACKGROUND: Michael Jon Carter is born along with twin, Michelle, in Gotham in the 25th century (2442). He is raised in a future Gotham City with the same red sky and a respect and adoration for the superheroes of the 21st century.

When Michael is four years old, his father leaves the family to pursue his one true love--gambling. Their mother raises her two children on her own and struggles with money. At eighteen, Michael strikes gold when he attends Gotham University and becomes the star quarterback for their football team. He earns the nickname Booster for his amazing athletic ability and popularity with the crowd.

Things start going really sour when money is getting too tight. His mother suddenly becomes ill, and Michael starts to take up after his father--gambling and throwing away games for extra cash to aid in his mother's recovery. At the height of his football career, Michael gets caught cheating and is kicked off the team, arrested, and sent to the big house. When he is released, he gets a job as a security officer at the Metropolis Space Museum. There he quickly grows to admire the section on 20th century super heroes. Late one night, he steals a slew of gear including the security robot, Skeets. With his trusty robot, they steal a Time Lord's time traveling machine and travel back to the 20th century.

There, Booster saves the President of the United States. Originally intending to call himself Goldstar, he goofs up on live national television and everyone knows him from then on as Booster Gold. This doesn't faze him as he goes on to start the company Goldstar, Inc. He hires himself a manager and secretary to get his name out there on the top of the charts.

To his surprise, his sister Michelle time travels to his time period with news of their mother's death and insists on staying. She adopts the super hero name Goldstar, but dies in an explosion set up by one of Booster's foes. Booster's secretary, Trixie, takes up the Goldstar name, but Booster is forever shaken by the loss of his twin.

Eventually, he is invited to fight alongside the famous Justice League International managed by Maxwell Lord. There he meets fellow class clown and B-list hero, the Blue Beetle (Ted Kord). They become best friends and get into wacky hijinks. One plot that is constantly brought up is when Ted coaxes Booster into stealing money from the JLI treasury, so they can start their own casino resort on the island of Kooey Kooey Kooey. To their surprise, the island is actually alive. The two guys never live this one down.

After a while, Booster gets sick of being treated like dirt by the JLI. He gets into a huge fight with Ted and quits to form his own team, the Conglomerate. They quickly become the darlings of the media. Eventually, Ted and Booster do make-up. Ted even quits the JLI and moves in with Booster, leaving dirty socks in the sink and food everywhere (Ted was depressed and fat). However, the Conglomerate is eventually disbanded and Blue & Gold both rejoin the League.

In a climactic battle with Doomsday (whom Booster names!), his suit is destroyed rendering him useless. Ted comes to his rescue, building him a new suit, but in a battle with the Overmaster, his suit is destroyed again and his right arm severed. For a few minutes, it looks like Booster might die, but the Overmaster makes it so that no births or deaths can occur on Earth. Booster's death is stalled. As they prepare to fight the Overmaster, Ted builds him another suit with a built in life-support system. This is revealed when Booster leads a charge against Overmaster and defeats him. The life-support system kicks in and Booster is alive. The only problem is that Booster cannot leave his suit otherwise he will die.

The JLA disassembles and what follows is X-TREME JUSTICE. Booster and the Blue Beetle join the team along with many former JL members. He continues to angst particularly about Ted hanging out with Ronray (Firestorm). Ted tries his best to figure out ways in which he can help Booster out of his suit, but nothing sticks.

Booster's suit begins to malfunction when alien twins (Zan and Jayna) damage it. Desperate, he strikes a deal with villainous Monarch, who restores his health and right arm. Booster is discovered without his armor, alive and well. He temporarily changes into a tentacle Egypt monster thingy, but gets better in like five minutes.

Extreme Justice disbands and the heroes go their separate ways.

Booster sets up an elaborate hoax that he married an old lady for her money when in fact he has none until Maxwell Lord approaches him to join his new super hero group, the Superbuddies. He immediately agrees. On the team, he gets into many wacky hijinks with Ted Kord (CONSTANTLY bickering with him over maturity) and even wishes the team to Hell in one issue. They get better.

After Sue Dibny is sexually assaulted and murdered, the team falls apart. Booster is brought down by their super hero life and decides to finally give up the cowl and lead a civilian lifestyle. This does not last long when Ted Kord asks Booster to help him on a suspicious case involving someone else pulling the strings in his company. This leads to the discovery of Checkmate and Maxwell Lord's involvement in a plot to turn civilians into hero-hunting cyborgs called OMACs. He attempts to dispose of Ted in his own home, but in the crossfire (BIG explosion) Booster is hospitalized. Ted decides to take on Max himself and is murdered. Booster learns of this later when Wonder Woman brings him to the Watchtower and Batman throws Ted's shattered, blood stained goggles in Booster's face. It is later discovered Skeets is also a casualty--ripped apart for his futuristic technology to aid Max Lord.

Enraged, Booster gathers together the old members of the JLI to lead an attack against Maxwell Lord. His group is struck down by the OMACs and their friend and team mate Rocket Red (Dimitri) is killed. Disheartened, Booster leaves--wanting to go home.

He later returns with stronger and better equipment and a rebuilt Skeets to find the Blue Beetle Scarab. He meets up with awesome face, Jaime Reyes, the new Blue Beetle. He brings Jaime to Batman, promising that with Jaime's aid, they can finally take down Maxwell Lord's newly defined Brother Eye.

In the 52 event, the golden trio disappear from crime-fighting. Booster also returns to being a super hero, but begins to suspect something is wrong with Skeets when he starts relaying incorrect data. In an effort to figure out what is wrong, his search brings him to Rip Hunter's laboratory in the desert where he finds a lot of information on him that is...disturbing. Booster returns to Metropolis where new hero, Supernova is stealing the spotlight.

Booster is allegedly killed when he is flying a nuclear submarine away from Metropolis and it explodes. However, turns out he struck a plan with Time Lord, Rip Hunter to fake his own death. He creates the Supernova persona and with Rip, they investigate Skeets and why he is malfunctioning the way he is. They discover Skeets is actually an empty shell for Mister Mind who has a plan to devour the Multiverse (52).

With the help of Rip and his ancestor Daniel Carter as Supernove, they trap Master Mind in an infinite loop. Rip takes the remains of Skeets and repairs him, leaving Skeets with no memory of what happened.

When all is solved and everyone has cake, Booster sheds the Supernova identity. Rip Hunter gives it to his ancestor, Daniel Carter who uses it to play video games 24/7. Booster helps save the Multiverse 522093820983 times. However, the time stream is damaged according to Rip Hunter because Superbrat punched history.

Rip Hunter wants Booster's help, but Booster says "hell no" and proceeds to try rejoining the Justice League. He is accepted, but turns out there are major repercussions including the death of Hal Jordan, Superman, and so on. Booster reluctantly aids Rip in fixing these tears in time and rejects the Justice League's invitation. He must continue to act like an arrogant prick in order to be the greatest hero never known to man.

As they travel through time and fix history and discover horrible things. In one plot, Booster discovers that his father who disappeared on him as a child joined a group of villains bent on screwing up the time line.

The one thing on Booster's mind though is the best friend he ever had, Ted Kord. He insists that he needs to save him. Rip keeps denying him, even going as far as to make him try saving Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) countless times from the Joker. Some moments in time are set in stone and cannot be altered otherwise they would face dire consequences.

A "Blue Beetle" from the far future intervenes with a special mission for Booster. Booster and other Blue Beetles from the past and future band together to save Ted Kord in the nick of time. Booster thinks everything is going to be great with Ted by his side, saving history, but when they return to the present, OMACs have taken over the world. It turns out, Ted has to die in order to insure Maxwell Lord's death and the Brother Eye's destruction.

Ted sacrifices himself for history.

Booster accepts this.

Feeling guilty, Rip decides to bring back Michelle. Michelle becomes Goldstar again and Booster's partner-in-time as they travel with Rip to fix the time stream.

Booster experiences many time traveling adventures and heartbreaks with his baby sister and Rip Hunter. Rip Hunter is revealed to the readers to be Booster's son, but it is a secret he keeps from Booster and his aunt.

During Blackest Night, Booster fights the reanimated corpse of his best friend, Ted Kord and buries him once and for all at the End of Time.

When Michelle discovers that she was saved from death in the time stream, she abandons Booster and is next seen living with her boyfriend in Coast City prior to its decimation by Cyborg Superman. Booster arrives to stop another time traveler from stopping Cyborg Superman before he destroys the city. When he discovers his sister, he saves her, but at the expense of her boyfriend.

Michelle stays with Booster and Rip after that.

In a short miniseries, Booster teams up with Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Superman, and Rip Hunter to locate Bruce Wayne who has been thrust into time. Their search thrusts them into different time lines and worlds hot on Batman's trail until he is eventually found (without their help).

After the events of Blackest Night comes Brightest Day with the resurrection of Maxwell Lord. The Justice League is immediately sent to hunt him down, leaving Booster in the dust. Not thinking straight, Booster lashes out against the league for not involving him in the search and decides to start his own man hunt. He follows Max to an abandoned JLI embassy where Max launches a sneak attack on him and leaves Booster to drown in his own blood. In the next room, Max successfully manipulates the world's memories to forget about him. While Max is doing that, Booster uses his old JLI communicator to send out a distress beacon that attracts Captain Atom, Ice, and Fire.

Max disappears, leaving the four heroes as the only people to remember Maxwell Lord. Despite their best efforts, the other super heroes have no idea who Max is and believes Ted Kord committed suicide. Atom, Fire, Ice, and Booster try to track down Max and reveal him, but Max moves ahead, sabotaging their reputations with the exception of Booster who had a shoddy reputation to begin with.

The four answer a distress call from current Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes who is being attacked by OMACs. They then move on to Russia, still on the chase, and are seemingly joined by Rocket Red, Gavril Ivanovich. Behind the scenes, Maxwell Lord is manipulating them to form a super hero team reminiscent of the Justice League International.

Booster Gold assumes control of this new JLI when Jaime is kidnapped and killed by Maxwell Lord before the JLI can rescue him. Max escapes, leaving the team with another dead Blue Beetle and Booster blaming himself once again for everything. However, Jaime is revived by the Scarab embedded in his spine and with the knowledge of Max's plans for world domination.

They recruit Batman and Power Girl to attack Maxwell Lord head-on. While they battle it out with Maxwell Lord's new OMACs, Booster takes the fight to Max's headquarters. Years of pent up anger is released when Booster tackles Max into a free-fall, but being a true hero at heart, he saves Max's life before he hits the ground. Maxwell uses this moment to attempt to manipulate Booster, but is stopped by Captain Atom who forces Maxwell Lord to reverse his world-wide mind wipe.

Maxwell escapes after that, leaving a battered yet reformed team. Booster and Batman join together to begin making plans to reform the Justice League International.

Running simultaneously against Generation Lost is Booster's solo series where he travels back in time to go on wacky adventures with Ted Kord. Booster tries to relive his past, but it is apparent how much he has matured. Ted notices this and calls Booster out on it, but in jest. They continue to get into hijinks involving a space prison and Ted turning into a squirrel before Booster returns tot he present. As one last farewell to Ted, Booster erects a tombstone that stands against the test of time, forever in memory of his best friend.

PERSONALITY: Booster Gold is perceived by many as just another ignorant arrogant jock. He's got the looks, the body, and the pearly whites to get by as one too. He's definitely got a smidgen of the stereotypical jock attitude including the vanity and lack of a brain. However, once people really get to know Booster, they will be surprised.

After he was arrested for throwing the game, his glory was shed and Michael's self-esteem went down the crapper. His mother and sister were severely disappointed in him. Michael was afraid of becoming his father. At his job, he would often roam around the super heroes section, studying the names, their feats, and everything about them. He wished to create a new identity for himself--to start fresh and bring honor back to his name. Though he can go home any time he likes, he feels ashamed of the name he created for himself in 25th Century Gotham City, so decides to live permanently in the present.

He initially tried to recreate the fame and glory he experienced during his football days. He tried every trick in the book to be up on top. Heroes condemned him for being a sell out and only seeking money. When he joined the Justice League, he was lumped together with Ted Kord as a B-list super hero and loser, class clown, and ignorant jock among other things. Even Ted would put down Booster, but in his heart, Booster is a hero.

Despite the money, fame, everything, he tries his hardest to save the day. He even risked his own life to bring down Overmaster. He knew he was going to die, but he put himself forward any ways. In recent years, he gave up his spot in the Justice League in order to save the time stream and known universe. He acts like an idiot but knows deep down inside that he's just trying to do the right thing.

Ted is definitely one of those guys vital in Booster's development. From the moment they teamed up in the JLI, they were thick as thieves. The two men shared the same sense of humor and love for crime fighting. Neither of them had powers, but the same sense of justice, right and wrong, and so forth. They banter and bicker like an old married couple, yet Booster has Ted's back and Ted has his. So often Booster describes Ted as the best man/friend he ever knew/had. He even was willing to risk rupturing time in order to save his best friend's life.

Over the years, he had seen heroes sacrifice their lives in battle or for the greater good. Hell, some of them were his close friends: J'onn, Tora, the Dibnys, Dimitri, Ted...he owes it to them to continue doing the right thing. With their help, Booster grew from a jock wanting fame to a hero wanting a better day for tomorrow.

But this doesn't leave Booster without his quirks. He is definitely a little slow on the uptake, not even recognizing himself in one of his time traveling adventures. He has some book smarts (history major!), but lacks a lot of common sense and observational skills. He does notice when a hot woman enters the room though and goes straight into horn dog mood. He even went as far as to hit on Mary Marvel, who is sixteen. Theoretically, he could be acting this skeevishly, because the 25th century is described as being very uptight and judgmental. This could be his way of rebelling against the society he grew up in.

Nonetheless, he goes against some of the stereotypical traits of a jock. For instance, Booster is a neat freak. When Ted was living with Booster, he left a mess everywhere which drove Booster crazy. Booster follows a healthy diet, exercise, and keeps his place nice no thanks to Ted.

Last, but not least, Booster knows he's hot and you want him.
CLASS: HERO
SUPERHERO NAME: BOOSTER GOLD
ALTER EGO: Michael Jon Carter
POWER: Flight--Booster is able to fly, but he cannot break the sound barrier.

Super Strength--He is strong enough to deliver concussion inducing punches and crash through buildings.

Forcefield--Booster is able to create golden force fields that protect him from most anything and provides a stable self-contained environment for deep-sea or deep space adventures. Combined with his flight, he can carry objects in his fields.

A Note: Booster also has his equipment beautifully stolen from the museum he used to work at. Unfortunately, only a few aspects of the suit still work and/or are considered void due to the powers bestowed on Booster by the Porter. As told by Wikipedia;

Legion Flight Ring: The standard Flight Ring employed by the adult Legion of Super-Heroes member, made of a particular alloy named valorium, bestows his/her owner with flight abilities. It is the only piece of equipment stolen from the Space Museum which has survived to the most recent version of Booster's suit unscathed.

Power Suit: In lieu of any metahuman powers, Booster Gold uses an advanced microcircuitry-powered all-purpose combat suit that allows him a wide range of options to use in combat. The suit bestows enhanced strength, at least twenty tons without exerting, and durability to his owner, and is extremely durable, very lightweight, and easy to wear. The suit itself is able to withstand bullets without losing its integrity (although being shot hurts). It is also equipped with a force field, courtesy of the Brainiac 5 belt, able to withstand powerful impact forces, like a punch from Doomsday without any damage spreading to its wearer, and filtering atmosphere to allow the holder thrive in a no-air atmosphere and defending Booster from germs and pollution: this particular feature was later down toned, as Booster prefers now engaging the shield only when necessary to avoid weakening his own immunity responses. Originally, it was the war-suit of an alien invader, put on display on the museum in which Booster stole much of his equipment. The suit was damaged by Doomsday, then replaced with bulky suits of armor and a variation of the Energy Superman energy-dampening costume. The current suit, a close replica of the original one, comes from the future; however, its origins remain unknown. In the alternate continuity of the Legion of Super Heroes in the 31st Century comic, Brainiac 5 himself arranged the events leading Booster into stealing a huge array of power cells used by the Science Police to fuel his powered suit, knowing about his heroic life in the 21st century from historical sources.

Visor Devices: Booster's visor is outfitted with both sensory amplification devices (both auditory and visual) and a HUD for targeting and threat-identification, along with broad scanning along the electromagnetic spectrum, providing infra-red, ultraviolet, and X-ray vision. It's described by Daniel Carter as lightweight as a pair of contact lenses, and although it has been shown as unable to protect his wearer by sudden flashes of blinding light, it provides a measure of protection.

FIRST PERSON: [There is static and then the video function turns out. Viewers are greeted with an extreme close up of Booster's nose, particularly up his nostrils. He leans back, still close, but at least we aren't counting his nose hairs. He's got his costume and goggles on and is looking very confused.]

Um. OK, don't panic. Stay cool, Booster, stay cool...Skeets? Buddy? You there?

[Booster pauses as if waiting for an answer, then begins tapping on the screen with his gloved finger.]

Helloooo? Anybody home in there? Skeets...Rip? Michelle? At least give me DANIEL.

[He huffs in exasperation and taps the communicator harder this time.]

Aw, come on. Lousy piece of--

[TAP. TAP. TAP.]

GUYS! This isn't funny. Guys.

[TAPTAPTAPTAP then finally Booster takes off his finger and looks angry.]

OK, fiiine. I get it, I get it. Let the golden boy figure this one out. Well, you know what? I'll just...I'll just stand here while time destroys itself. See if I care. How do you like that, huh?

[He pauses.]

...guys?

Here's his tag on the main comm!

THIRD PERSON: There were a lot of things Booster loved about life, particularly life on planet Earth. There were cheese steaks, girls in tight mini skirts, vintage football, cheese steaks, girls gone wild on MTV, three briefs in one packet, and cheese steaks. However, once agreeing to go on Rip Hunter's excellent adventure through history, Booster had little time for any of those things (especially cheese steaks). He had spent a considerable amount of time getting his ass handed to him actually. The appearance of his sister made things marginally better since they could now goof off and enjoy a fine wine in Paris, France in the early 20th century.

Now being stuck in a different time, different place, different universe altogether with no Skeets, Michelle, or Rip by his side? That blew chunks.

His first instinct was to punch in the face whoever brought him here. He was fighting off a mystery thief with no help the help of Ralph when all of a sudden a time portal was opened and he happened to fall into it. The only explanation was the thief and he was going to give him a piece of his mind, but when Booster landed in Neverland, there was no mystery glowing man to be found.

There were robots and Booster punched those, but as it turned out, robots from another time, place, dimension don't like to be punched in where their faces might be (do robots have faces? L-Ron kind of had a face, but--).

He was unceremoniously dumped on the sidewalk in front of a rather large corporate building that reminded him of the large sky rises in Gotham City.

Booster stood up slowly, rubbing his gold ass and looked around. It looked more like 21st century New York City to him, but something was decidedly off and people were giving him reaaaally funny looks as if they never heard of the Justice League or Booster Gold before--or maybe they had and the Justice League was getting blamed for another catastrophe.

Yeah, life really did suck.

After being rudely brushed off by a couple of civilians and almost being mugged by a homeless man, Booster ducked into an alley way and finally noticed that there was a noticeable bulge in his pocket and no, he wasn't happy to see the City.

"What the--" he barked, picking the communicator from his pocket. Simple technology. Huh. Maybe he should...?

Miraculously, he found the ON button and waited for the communicator to load...
