At this stage of my posting, the election results have not been finalised; and probably won't for days naturally. I've been keen to watch the outcome of Bennelong, which still is resting on a very unbalanced knife's edge, quoting Maxine McKew.

While I will reserve my complete opinions of governance and democracy, I certainly hope that the people can just respect the choices of their fellow man here in Australia. It has been more than simply six weeks of hypocricy and attention, and I am quite content that it is beginning to reach its end - for now.

And a final note, I just watched Peter Costello make a speech regarding the almost inevitable outcome and he looked like he was close to tears - and that is quite an admirable thing; he is human like everybody else. A noble defeat from him at least.

haah I was pretty wrong! I don't think I expected it to be such a landslide. I thought the PM's speech was very dignified, Rudd's went for too long and Yeah, Costello actually seemed human. Interesting. Watching Insiders this morning, Andrew Bolt (notorious conservative commentator) even said he thought this may be the end of the Liberal Party as we know it. There's going to be a lot of soul-searching going on...
