I never post here, but I figured I would share with lj-land this simple proof that I devised. Oh how I love the logical holes in religion ( Read more... )

UNLESS...
Is it possible that God knew about Lucifer's plans, but pretended that he didn't, because he knew the ultimate result of Lucifer's intentions (war of angels, creation of Hell, etc)?

It could be, but that would negate antoher characteristic of God: merciful. Why would He allow so many of his faithful followers die if He could prevent it? Doesn't sound like the kind God that is supposed to forgive all sins.

Here you're hitting on a much larger issue: if god is all powerful and merciful, then no one he creates would ever suffer or die. He could see some kind of value in suffering, tragedy, death, etc. Maybe He has a plan we can't understand.

Another big problem with religion; He watches out for us, but when something bad happens it's "part of his plan." But anyway, that would work for us humans since we have the option to sin. Apart from Lucifer, the angels were completely subservient, doing everything He wished. What would they have done to deserve suffering?

This is answered in some of the previous comments. The fact that God made a rebelious servant doesn't make sense. He is supposed to be all-powerful and as such make beings in the design that He wishes flawlessly. We are to have choice, and we do. The angels are supposed to be servants and they are... except for Lucifer and his followers. It just doesn't make sense. It doesn't follow the idea that He is all-powerful. Anyways, even if He did make a flawed creature, He should have known this and stopped it right away since He is also supposed to be all-knowing. As is stated before, He may have let Lucifer go so that the angels may learn something, the same way that bad things happen to humans. But that also doesn't fit. What could they learn? Verify the existence of God to them? Nope, they are in His precense and even have to carry around His throne. Learn to trust Him? They are created to trust and serve Him, that's what they are. There's no reason which means that all the angels that faught for Him died without cause. This contradicts ( ... )
