As usual, Jane was quite busy while she was keeping her office hours, and part of that was in preparing for it Miss Norwood decided to stop by for her reading lesson. Firekeeper was still not entirely certain of the wisdom of this whole project, but she'd made a commitment, so here she was, peeking curiously through the open doorway with Blind Seer.

"Hmmmm?" Jane, it would seem, must have been in the middle of something quite fascinating because, though she'd hummed in response to her guests, it was a good few minutes until she actually saw them.

"Oh! Miss Norwood! And Mr. Blind Seer, too, I see, of course, come in, come in!"

Her chair scraped against the floor as she stood up. "Have you come ready to embark on the exciting journey of literacy?"

"We come to learn reading," Firekeeper replied, a little dubiously.

"Which is what literacy is," Jane said with a nod, beaming at the opportunity to already teach something. "A person who cannot read is considered illiterate, while a person who can read is considered literate. The il- part is what we call a prefix, something that's added to a word to modify its meaning, but that's something for much further into our lessons, of course!"
