i might like the beginning to start with a voice over in a maternity ward-- the main character talking about her anonymous, inauspicious

I like your movie idea, but you have to make it totally ridiculous, a la Spinal Tap, or (even better) almost creepy, a la Bob Roberts. But it has to be funny, because comedy can always take on the stuff that drama can't yet.

Also, excellent Red Riding Hood idea. I'm stuck on the Snow Queen. I really want to do something with that one, but I have no idea what.

yeah-- best case scenario, i'd totally want to strangelove it, except i don't think i'm talented enough to pull off the whole piss hilarious/shit scary combination...

the snow queen could be a girl whose standoffishness and punk-rock tendencies (set in the 70's?) scare off the people she wants to be with, so she gets clingy with the one friend she has, who she hopes will love her-- until some other girl "rescues" him.
OR you could avoid being revisionist, and cast the two female leads oppositely. i'm kinda pulling this out of my ass, so it sounds a little cliche.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I feel like I almost have something that I can't quite figure out, and it's driving me crazy.
