So...

Are we supposed to be pretending that everything is normal now, or is that not until next month?

I mean, I would not wish to be out of date.

Nothing will ever be normal again.

Actually, I think we've got to wait until the year 2001.

For real normalcy or for the pretense thereof?

Because if I've noticed one thing lately, it's that people are very good at pretending things are 'normal' again very quickly.

How are yo

Real normalcy. The pretense is too thinly veiled these days to even present the barest hint of a façade.

Let them pretend though, if it makes them feel better. Believing in something is half the battle.

Opiate, masses, et cetera, et cetera.

You've been hiding lately. Are you all right?

But it seems to be the proper thing these days to pretend that it's not a sad pretense. Or, at least, when it's up it's not a bad pretense.

Perhaps. I honestly don't care what they're up to, as a rule. I just want to know when I can expect my Housemates to start running around pretending everything is perfect, again. It saves me the trouble of trying to think it out.

I wouldn't expect you to use that quote.

Fine.

I don't know. I never know. Sometimes I think trying to figure out how you're supposed to feel is just another distraction to keep from having to actually feel it.

It's funny.

You almost say that as though you believe it to be a bad thing.

I don't know if it's bad. I can't keep track anymore.

I don't care if it's bad.

Nor do I care about keeping track.

I think this will eventually become normal.

I think that's an unbearably horrid thought. And thus, of course, far too likely to be entirely correct.
