Though I consider myself an artist that uses video, I don’t always consider myself easy to please on the appreciation of video installation. However, I have to say I was in for a pleasant surprise at SFMoMA last weekend and just wanted to recommend a couple things to people in the area or for those just visiting.

music, melancholia, and morrissey... well, you can have morrissey...but the other two! finally: the joy in art, especially in using melancholia as a departure point...

the other installation seriously intrigues me. i've always been into how architecture is used to frame within photography and film/video...and i also LOVE the work of Andreas Gursky and Thomas Struth...(and Bill Viola). that sounds right up my alley!

Gursky, Struth...yeah! Viola is hit or miss for me...but usually a big miss. Though when it's a hit, it's great.

phil collins is a fucking amazing artist!!! and he's super nice too. we showed an earlier version of this smiths thing, but in venezuela (or peru?) instead of turkey. it was awesome. and his other videos are pretty fucking great!

I haven't seen a lot of his other work, though I've read about a few pieces.
