It's completely scary on how the success of each school is so dependent on its administration and how they support teachers, deal with discipline, etc. I hate it! I feel so incredibly lucky but it's such a crap shoot it makes me insane thinking about staying in this career for the rest of my life.

Your year summary gives me hope, something I need pretty badly right now. This turnaround was such a long time coming. I'm so happy for you.

Thank you! It seems so surreal most of the time. I am convinced of a few things. a. looking for a job is one of the principle miseries of life. 2. it is a completely illogical process that will drive you insane trying to read and figure out. I don't think that, after having 20+ interviews, they are based on any real factors at all. I've so had that same experience where people offer to tell me what I did wrong, even though I thought I did well-- weird and depressing. I also hate the no eye contact interview and so many public schools have that as a "screening."
I hope something works out for you this year, that you find a direction you want to move in and an environment that isn't toxic.
