I have a decision to make.

I spent fifteen hours working today--sitting on my ass for 8 hours, running to and from the cars of very well tipping doctors for the final 7. I made good money.

I find that movie/concert/comedy/theatre tickets are nice because not only is it a thoughtful gift (assuming you get something she'd be interested in seeing) but it also says "I'm giving you an opportunity to celebrate your birthday AGAIN on me."

Although if you do that, don't just show up and be like "oh hey I'm gonna get you tickets to that show you wanted to see" because then you look like you waited until the last minute. Get a card & flowers and write it in the card. You knew that, though.

Flowers for sure. From a florist, not a grocery store. :-) And from my own experience, a gift certificate for a massage or some other spa treatment is pretty stellar.

Oh, and extra bonus points if you ~make her a cake with your own hands! Even if it's dopey looking, it's something ~you did.

Oh, she'd probably be happier if I bought her a bottle of wine or paid for her bar tab than if I bought her flowers.

And she's not much of a sweets person, except for ice cream. I don't know how to make ice cream!

Funny--I bought her a gift certificate last Christmas to a salon 2 blocks from her house--a good salon, too--AND SHE STILL HASN'T USED THE DAMN THING!
