Okay, so I purchased my laptop, woohoo. its a toshiba s135 or something. i'm all good with that, BUT there is a 3 year best buy warranty that i can purchase for 200 dollars. it fixes everything that's within reason. the best buy salesguy said that when they laptop batteries die, you can get them replaced via the warranty, and that the batteries are ( Read more... )

Warranties are your best friend. Generally, the manufacturer's only lasts a year, so if you can get additional coverage, go for it. It may cost you $200 now, but if your harddrive kicks it, or your battery, or your disc drive, just think of the money and stress it'll save you.

I think apples' warranty is now down to 90 days. but that's because they want to sell you their applecare warranty.

your battery probably won't die within 3 years

but you could probably pretend it did at the end of the warranty and get a free one anyway

You probably should buy it, because it's one of those things where if you have it, you never need it, but if you don't, something horrible could happen and you'll wish you did.

my grandpa says to always buy those warrantys. and he went to UCLA so hes smart. i dont know how much he knows in the realm of computers though, being an old man and all...

i vote yes. check how long the compaq warranty is, and how much it covers, but considering how fickle laptops are, i'd say get the warranty.
